The Section for Computational Sensomotorics (Sektion für theoretische Sensomotorik) is one of four research groups in newly founded Department N³: Neurorehabilitation | Neuroprosthetics | Neurotechnology. It combines theoretical neuroscience with experimental research, and applications in biomedical engineering, in the domains of action perception and control, and neurodegenerative diseases. It is part of the Werner Reichardt Center for Integrative Neuroscience (CIN), the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research (HIH), the Medical Faculty of the University of Tübingen (MFT), and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience (BCCN). Also, it is part and one of the main coordinators of the interuniversity center Bionic Intelligence Tübingen – Stuttgart (BITS). Research integrates experimental and theoretical neuroscience, as well as the development of technical applications with relevance for clinical applications.

We collaborate closely with the Center of Neurology at the University Clinic and the Max Planck Institutes for Biological Cybernetics and Intelligent Systems in Tübingen, and with the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Automation (IPA) in Stutgart. The section is and has been funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), the Hertie Foundation, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the European Community (EC), and the Human Frontiers Science Program (HFSP).
